Six-Storey Hotel Set to Launch at Eastland

CONSTRUCTION of a six-storey hotel is well underway in Ringwood with hopes of attracting international and interstate shopping tourists to help drive retail growth in the area.

The 120-room hotel by Sage is positioned above the southwest corner of Eastland, sitting directly above H&M on the corner of Maroondah Highway and Warrandyte Road and is a similar concept to develeopment of two hotel towers at Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne's south-east.

Sage hotels are owned by the SilverNeedle Hotels Group and collectively operate over 55 hotels throughout Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Laos.

The Herald Sun have reported that Eastland general manager Steve Edgerton said the hotel was tipped to be completed by late-2017 and was part of the centre’s long-term master plan.

“The hotel will cater for those who want to linger with us for more than a day,” Mr Edgerton said.

He said there would be little disruption to customers, visitors and staff during works thanks to a “comprehensive construction management plan”.

SilverNeedle managing director Cameron Stewart said the “gateway to the Yarra Valley” was the perfect position for a hotel.

“Sage Hotels gives guests an opportunity to experience local and we will curate the local scene so our guests can easily tap into the best of what an area has to offer,” Mr Stewart said.
